Building Tomorrow's Roofing Experts: National Apprenticeship Week at Wayne's Roofing

National Apprenticeship Week gives us an opportunity to highlight one of Wayne's Roofing's proudest traditions: our dedication to developing the next generation of commercial roofing professionals. Through our partnerships with the Pierce County Roofers Apprenticeship and Seattle Area Roofers Apprenticeship Programs, we're building on our 55-year legacy of excellence in commercial roofing.

Our commitment to apprenticeship training reflects the journey of our own leadership. Don Guthrie, who started as a 14-year-old neighbor kid loading trucks and worked his way up to become president, and is now Chairman and CFO. Similarly, current owners Brian Butler and Dan Johnson both started with Wayne's Roofing in 1987 while still in high school. These success stories demonstrate the power of hands-on training and dedicated mentorship.

Our apprenticeship program focuses on:

  • Comprehensive technical training

  • Safety-first mindset development

  • Understanding diverse commercial roofing systems

  • Real-world experience on major projects

  • Career advancement opportunities

The commercial roofing industry demands specialized knowledge across multiple roofing systems and applications. Our apprentices gain experience working on diverse projects, from hospitals and schools to high-rise buildings and industrial facilities. This varied exposure, combined with formal training, creates well-rounded professionals capable of handling complex commercial roofing challenges.

Wayne's Roofing's apprenticeship program benefits from our company's extensive experience and resources:

  • Over 55 years of industry expertise

  • Access to major commercial projects

  • Industry-leading safety practices

  • Advanced technology and techniques

  • Experienced mentors and trainers

As we continue to grow and take on larger projects our apprenticeship program ensures we maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and professionalism. Today's apprentices are tomorrow's leaders, carrying forward our commitment to trust, quality, and customer satisfaction.

During National Apprenticeship Week, we celebrate our current apprentices and invite those interested in a rewarding career in commercial roofing to learn more about our program. Join us in building not just better roofs, but better futures.
