National Roof Over Your Head Day!
National Roof Over Your Head Day on December 3rd was created as a day to be thankful for what you have - starting with the roof over your head. There are many things we take for granted in life, like a roof to protect us and our loved ones.
This is a day when we stop to recognize that there are many that are less fortunate and may lack everyday necessities, such as a roof over their heads, enough food to eat, or clothes to wear.
The day reminds us to appreciate what we have. Following Thanksgiving, it’s a day to be thankful. The day was created to raise awareness for housing issues and to remind us to be thankful for what we have.
Unfortunately, many people across the United States lack this basic necessity. Overall, 66.7% of the total homeless population of the United States is single individuals, with the remaining 33.3% being families.
